UPDATE:
As some of you know, my work situation has been precarious for some time. I work on a contract basis, and have moved around the country as needed.
That's how we ended up in S. Florida. A client contacted me, asking me to come for 2 months. I agreed. It is now a month shy of 2 years, and the job has continued, as a good job, this long. However, we knew it wasn't permanent, and began preparing to move on a couple of months ago.
However, it has come to a screeching halt. The CFO at this client feels that they are close enough to having their new software ready to go that I'm no longer needed on-site. Not that his IT manager agrees, but ...
This morning, I was called into my boss's office and given the good news. Time to start working remotely, complete a couple of quick projects, and then go into a supporting role, as needed. In other words, "We still need you but don't want to pay you much, so get scarce. Right away."
In the natural, that leaves me absolutely up a creek with no paddle. I know of no new clients(s) just waiting for me to become available and show up.
In the Spiritual, I suspect God is smiling broadly, rubbing His mighty hands, and chuckling, "This is gonna be FUN!" (Personally, I happen to think that God has a Sir BumbleBerry mischievous side as well, though of course much BETTER than mine. I keep thinking that He made giraffes AND duck-billed platypuses AND ME.)
Thing is, James says, "You do not HAVE because you do not ASK."
Well, notice is hereby given that I'm ASKING. We need a solution REAL FAST. (Speculate from there, you'll probably be spot on.)
And I'd very much appreciate it if all y'alls would ask, too. LOTS.
Thanks.
