Love Triangles and Literature

It just occured to me that all three of the Bronte sister's novels were kind of love triangles, but Jane Eyre was the only one that polygyny might have helped.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorites of all time. And it’s funny you say that because it was in my re-reading of it a couple years ago (when this poly thing came up in my family) that I had the exact same thought!

Bigamy is an ugly word yet I intended to be a bigamist

Before I left the forums last year, I listened to an audio book of Jane Eyre, and meant to post on here about it. Not my usual fare, certainly, but my sister loves the book and had posted something to Facebook about the almost-wedding scene that would've resulted in bigamy, which picqued my interest. Boy was that a long slog of a book... And the plot goes completely off the rails shortly after that unfinished wedding (IMHO). At least I could listen in the background while at work. But I suppose there were a couple interesting insights into alpha and female behaviors. At any rate, the book would've been been half as long with polygamy, and wouldn't have needed nearly so many deus ex machinas
