Need to learn

If they claim that Jesus, or whatever name they call the Son of God is all we have with the fruit they produce and that's it. God is the judge of all hearts. The thing about fruit is you have to get to know someone to actually see if there are any. What if they are secretive because they have learned from real persecution? What if they knew there was a group who accepted thier lifestyle but lived it with a different focus?
The problem with them being so secretive and remote, is that puts them in a mission field that most of us tent makers are unable to reach. If my next door neighbor is a practicing LDS, they won't hide it from me, but if he is practicing FLDS, he is off in some remote compound, I guess they lost YFZ, so I guess they moved up to Montana or something. I am nowhere near El Dorado anyhow, as Texas is huge! Yeah I have no qualms about reaching them with the truth of the gospel, if and when I encounter them!

And by the way, I believe there is a hell, it's just not eternal like we think.

I know this was discussed on another thread so while I disagree, I am not going to go into it here. I don't believe this is a salvific issue any how. One way or another, we will all know in the end.

I will say this. when I have encountered LDS missionaries, the first question I ask them, is about polygamy. They have their rehearsed answers, but most of them are unaware that polygamy is condemned in the BoM. I enjoy telling them that I find nothing wrong with polygamy, but that is because I don't find it condemned in the Holy Bible.

This is called witnessing to them. Something we are suppose to do. Keep up the good work.

Thank God that attitude wasn't present when the seventy were sent out.
What was it that you misunderstood? Because I cannot see your point at all.

Relax Steve, I just think we should be tolerate of others beliefs. Unless they are full on pagens, we should remember we too where once lost and maybe, just maybe they have been placed in our lives so we can show them the way. That is if we are sure we know the way ourselves.

they told me lots about polygamy and that it is the best way (only way?) to a strong family.

I would like to learn more about it and talk to people who live it

Do you have any particular questions about polygamy?

Polygamy is marriage, not that much different than monogamy except that there are two wives dedicated to the task of helping the husband instead of one. The scriptures speak of how this builds a strong family...

Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Here is a list of the different sects of Mormonism:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_denominations_in_the_Latter_Day_Saint_movement

It lists 18 sects that accept polygamy, some of which are now defunct, and most of the ones that are still active, are offshoots of FLDS or AUB. The FLDS group includes the Short Creek community and YFZ (the really really bad one). Interestingly enough, the initial call to the abuse hotline, turned out to be fraudulent, but the evidence found to convict those men, came by means of the search warrant that was issued as a result of that fraudulent call. Noteworthy is the fact that Bountiful seems to be an offshoot of FLDS where the patriarch was excommunicated by the group. The only allegation of wrongdoing on the part of AUB, appears to be Welfare fraud. AUB is the 5th largest sect of Mormonism, and it resides mostly in the Western/Mountain region of the USA, Mexico and Canada. They are also the most open with authorities and their neighbors.

None of these organizations are known to have any offshoots outside of North America.

Unfortunately it has become clear that @RussianPolyGirl is not who she/he says that he/she is, so the account has been banned.
What was the determining factor? The story that she told about meeting pro-poly Mormons in Europe, or the inability to communicate in Russian? Just curious.

Unfortunately we cannot directly answer that question, because we do not wish to allow scammers to learn and become harder to detect. But rest assured that decisions like this are only made with very sound evidence, and usually more than is visible on the forum. As @Mojo has said, we are very confident about this decision, there is no doubt in this case.

And to add to this, let this be a very visible example to all of us. Always use discretion and judgment on the World Wide Web. It's not a sin to trust others, but like the Gipper said...."verify".

I had a fascinating online discussion with a UAB woman in one of the Christian Poly groups on FB. It turns out, she is in the UK, but their small assembly dissolved. Looks like a great place to meet potential Pro-poly Mormons, is these groups that I know many of you are already on. Of course I told her about Biblical Families, so hopefully she will join. I would ask that we pray for her ex-husband and his new wife, that she can get them to join as well.

Please be careful, there are many who would not be a positive addition.

The topic we were discussing, was reaching out to pro-poly LDS. I know Jesus wasn't afraid to reach out to Samritans who had bad reputations, so I can only do what I see the Master doing.

I would never judge how you feel to spend your time and ministry, but I do have a problem with encouraging known troublemakers to come here and become the focus and waste the few resources that we are able to offer truth seekers.
Just because people accept poly doesn’t make them reasonable bedfellows. This is called Biblical Families for a reason.

I have never met a Mormon who won't attempt to defend their religion, even while they don't completely agree with everything that their church says. I find the same holds true for Catholics. My understanding, is that responding to anybody, is completely optional, and if you don't wish to respond to someone like that, let those of us who do wish to respond, handle it. One thing I got this lady to agree on is that no church has a complete handle on the truth, and I know that is something we have all come to know first hand. She says that she helped her husband earn his Theology degree, so she thinks that she has a better handle than most people, when it comes to Mormon Scriptures. I think it will be interesting to see a good dialog on that front. My approach has been to simply ask lots of questions, and not dictate to her what I think she believes, but let her tell me where she is coming from, and then tackle it from there.
