So

She was one of the chief promoters of the “science”
So bribes aren't coming.

So depression will be good for truth finding.

Why did she promoted falsehood before? Probably knowingly.

Money? Was she rewarded otherwise?

I seriously doubt she checked data again and decided to tell truth.

I don't know about @MemeFan, but I read the whole thing, and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth even before I read y'all's comments above. She certainly accepted all the research funding, status, promotions and accolades for a mighty long time. Funding is way down for such projects, because 'climate change' is now considered among the elites to be a given. They need no further 'proof,' and, on the contrary, evidence keeps coming out about it being a hoax. I don't know what Ms. Curry's heart of heart believes, but her epiphany certainly seems to be convenient -- almost like a harbinger of rats-fleeing-the-ship. Funding = bribes; that's how it almost always works. The preferred outcome is always known, and the researchers know that their funding will continue or increase if they produce the preferred outcome.

At the very least, I'd take a wait-and-see approach before trusting her mea culpa to have great meaning.

I had read it after my posting. @Keith Martin has posted good summary.

No why she didn't know good personal consequnces for falsifing data. Real question is why now?

It's possible she has found integrity or bravery, but her behaviour record isn't doing her any favors. It's also possible she was being found a quack and now she is saving her reputation.

What is certain is that her current story is one which puts her into best possible light.

I’m probably just gullible, as usual, but I took it that she was just going down the garden path that all of her crowd was on, thinking that they were God’s gift to the rest of us and the only ones correct in their windmill tilting. When you ”just know”that your cause is the righteous one, it’s easy to accept a bill of fudging to help the facts to line up in the way that they should But at some point you look in the rear view mirror and realize that you have drifted completely out of sight of the road. Remember that liberals nowadays think that their emotions are the truth, and all that they have to do is keep repeating the mantra, and the universe will align with them.
I think that she is honestly embarrassed by how badly she blew it.

But like I said, I am a gullible boy.

Possible. Hard to know her motivation.

But honest mistake is hard for me to accept because her workplace should have quality control system to stop such things.

This is probably systematic. Entire workplace was corrupted.

Gun control has become very unpopular in Israel.
They are changing the laws.

This is a very good analysis, but it comes with a Uh-Oh-Here-Comes-Jordan-Peterson warning, because it mentions both Solzhenitsyn and Jung. M Scott Peck, however, wrote brilliantly in both The Road Less Traveled and People of the Lie.

Beware, though, of the proclivity for human beings to over-diagnose disorders of the mind. We’re prone to seeing more bogey men than actually exist. Each of us has at least the seeds of narcissism within us, and that includes the propensity to project both our own tendencies and our thoughts and fears onto others. Recognize narcissism when it really rears its ugly head, but never conclude that we’re hopelessly surrounded by it.

Samuel and I calved a cow today. First time for me, and first time for Samuel since he was a teenager. There is something so thrilling about helping in a situation where you could very likely lose the cow and calf, and instead end up with both healthy and fine.
Samuel wasn't even meant to check the cows then either. He'd checked them earlier in the day, but then I was with him this afternoon and he wanted to show me the new calves. I also got to meet the newest of calves!
And we have 3 1/2 pet lambs right now. The 1/2 refers to a lamb we're currently bottle feeding that might die tonight, and if it doesn't, we'll probably be mothering it onto a ewe instead of keeping it as it's a boy we don't want to keep.
Farming life is certainly keeping us busy!
I also didn't realise I'd be using my brain so much.
4 lambs. 1 needs feeding 350ml every 4 hours. 1 needs 150ml every 3 hours. 1 needs between 150ml - 350ml, depending on if it's drinking a full bottle yet as it's been unwell, and fed every 3-4 hours depending on how it's doing. 1 needs 150ml every 3 hours, but off schedule to everyone else because it was found mid morning and fed as soon as it was brought in.
I feel like a lamb needs feeding every hour around here lol.
