Hilarious satire - and possibly quite accurate!
The entire globe is destabilizing. I’m praying for peace, because it looks like it will take a miracle to prevent WWIII.So, the Middle East is rapidly destabilising as we speak. Following the US / UK attack on Yemen, Iran has fired ballistic missiles into Iraq, targeting claimed anti-Iran (likely US-linked) forces, Israel has struck Syria again, the Houthis have widened their targets from Israel-linked to any US or UK shipping, while the Gaza operation is ongoing providing emotive fuel behind it all...
Let's not debate the politics - that would be exceedingly counterproductive. Let us pray for peace, in whatever way is God's will. And if peace there is not His will at the present point in time, let us at least pray for the safety of His people there in the midst of whatever is coming, and pray that the chaos does not spread to the places we live.

“It is clear to me that my mental health is being badly affected by the stresses relating to my work. This has led me to act in ways that are completely out of character. I am not trying to excuse my actions, but I do want to explain them.
“People should, rightly, expect the highest standards of behaviour from their elected representatives. I fell short. I’m sorry. It’s not a behaviour I can explain because it’s not rational in any way, and after medical evaluation, I understand I’m not well. The mental health professional I see says my recent behaviour is consistent with recent events giving rise to extreme stress response, and relating to previously unrecognised trauma.
“With that in mind, I don't want to hide behind my mental health problems, and I take full responsibility for my actions which I deeply regret.
“I have let down a lot of people and I am very sorry.
“The best thing for my mental health is to resign as a Member of Parliament and to focus on my recovery and to find other ways to work for positive change in the world.
I would like to make a snarky comment about how you kiwis need to stop electing goofballs as leaders, but seeing as I live in the American glass house I probably shouldn’t throw stones, lol.NZ's first refugee MP has just resigned because she's been caught stealing from a high end boutique.
What frustrates me is the statement from her. Apparently she was super stressed because 'oh my goodness, being an MP is hard!' And somehow that affected her mental health enough to steal.
This feels like a pile of excuses wrapped up in a 'mental health' blanket.
Note that she's not resigning because she literally broke the law (several times, and for no reason btw), but because it's best for her mental health and herself.
Golriz Ghahraman is our equivalent of AOC.I would like to make a snarky comment about how you kiwis need to stop electing goofballs as leaders, but seeing as I live in the American glass house I probably shouldn’t throw stones, lol.
That's a pretty good comparison actually.Golriz Ghahraman is our equivalent of AOC.
He won't see that. He's gone from here. But I'm sure several folks will see that and relay the message.Having problems with Yahoo mail not working again. I can see my messages in a list but can't open any of them. Can't even send new emails.
Ping to @Keith Martin who I am trying to reply to this morning.
One of my sisters did Tablespoons of baking powder instead of teaspoons in muffins once. They erupted out of those tins like little volcanos....and were not very edible. I think the chickens got 'em.He can't quite remember how much baking powder he added, so it's going to be interesting lol.
It's the other way, he's not sure if he put in the right amount or not enough. I said not to add more as it's better to eat something with not enough baking powder rather than the other way around. One of my sisters did Tablespoons of baking powder instead of teaspoons in muffins once. They erupted out of those tins like little volcanos....and were not very edible. I think the chickens got 'em.
The joys of learning!
Our prayers have worked so far. NATO is incapable of action this year, so they have to keep working to get in shape for spring 2025/26.The entire globe is destabilizing. I’m praying for peace, because it looks like it will take a miracle to prevent WWIII.
You're over-optimistic. Spring is coming this year also. "the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle" (2 Samuel 11:1)We have about 15 months (nobody starts war in winter)
I’m thankful we’ve been given this much time, and I pray for more. Our prayers have worked so far. NATO is incapable of action this year, so they have to keep working to get in shape for spring 2025/26.
Keep praying harder, it's working. We have about 15 months (nobody starts war in winter) for prayers. Enough time.
Off course, NATO is incapable. C'mon, problems with industrial arms production are public and not fixable in quarter. It will take more time. You're over-optimistic. Spring is coming this year also. "the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle" (2 Samuel 11:1)
And if NATO is truly incapable of action this year as you claim, others may take advantage of that. While if NATO is capable of action, they may initiate it themselves.
