The term “poly” wrongly applied

It may sound petty on my part, but I have a difficult time on any type of dating site or otherwise hearing the term “poly“ being utilized anymore. It’s a red flag or keyword that tells me that someone most likely does not understand and ultimately into it for the wrong reasons.

That’s why almost always I will use the term “plural marriage“ in order to delineate things of a worldly and vile nature, with the correct and respectful things that are of God. Using the label of seeking “plural marriage” usually gets women scoffing at our family profile on dating sites.

We live in a world that seems to continue to marginalize the sanctity of marriage or even place any value on it whatsoever. People want to play around without commitment or hold anything sacred. When someone contacts me or puts an ad up saying they’re looking for “poly“ I usually run the opposite direction.

So sad that the world celebrates and even encourages polyamory aka so called “ethical poly” and other perversions, yet will persecute to the fullest an actual plural family practicing pure biblical principles.
 
I feel that way about the word “plygs”, but I have no problem with poly.
 
I hear what you're saying. I find it useful to use biblical terms to help people grow in their understanding of such topics. However, like so many biblical terms and phrases now; sin, adultery, wife, marriage, grace, mercy, salvation, etc., etc., we have to explain or define them as we talk with people. When accused of adultery, ask the acuser to show you the Bible passages that define adultery and I'll guarantee you they won't be able to. Jesus had to do the same thing regarding the Sabbath, so it's nothing new. Cheers

While I mostly agree with you, I don’t think it’s the name so much as the concept. I like “plural”and “biblical” over poly but I don’t think any of the terms make the masses think much differently.

The term Poly has taken on its own little world that seculars seem to embrace. I understand why you reject it. But the rest of society lumps it all.
 
As I am only half way through my forat cup of coffee and the brain has yet to really start working, I had to look again to note the author and date.
I have written on the very same theme numerous times but with a bit more vitriol for the rebranded swinger cretins who have usurped out bloody prefix.
I also use plural marriage by preference but I like plyg and use it to refer to myself regularly.
