I see that some people have posted about Martin Madan's Thelypthora Vols. I-III. I do recommend this book for those of you who are interested in peering into a Victorian English barrister-turned-preacher's views on the female ruin.
Madan uses the Bible a lot as a reference to his books, either using Hebrew or Greek to reinforce his points. His writing is antiquated, which takes some time getting used to it. Moreover, he explains a lot of what goes on in Victorian England, what happened there, and why relying on human authority to determine what is marriage or not is dangerous, destructive, and ungodly. He writes to convince the reader that polygyny is not evil, and that it can be used to remedy some of its societal ills. He believes that manmade laws have destroyed the humanity of men and women; in doing so, man have rejected divine law to follow their baser instincts.
You do not have to buy directly from Amazon as this is public domain. Be warned though that his writings are antiquated. The f and sloped f mean different things. It's been a long time but one of them is an s while the other is seen as a different letter (I forget which one).
