Giving your daughter in marriage...

My advice, and I do have 15 children, three of which I’ve delivered myself in unassisted home births, is to stay as far away from OB/GYNs as possible. In America at least they cause way more problems than they solve.

But hey, it’s been a long time since I only had one child so there’s a lot I could have forgotten.
This is the way son #2 and his wife roll lol. Their first boy will be here in a week or so.

Well I'm never going to help any of my Wives give birth I will leave that up to someone who knows what they are doing, Midwives in America are very expensive so unless you've got a hand full of cash most likely your getting a OBGYN or someone who thinks they can preform births and I'm not that guy! If you feel you are able and willing to help with giving birth will that is great just be close enough to a hospital when it goes south.

My personal opinion is for women to marry no later then early 20's and be done with birthing in early 30's and you will be far better off because of it.

Yeah the only reason my son and DIL go this route is because he has a BSN even though he chooses not to practice traditional medicine.

I think it's Awesome if someone knows what they are doing, but for me I don't so I will be paying for Midwives.

My mom had all but me at home. I was at the births of two of my sisters.

We had all our babies at home, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

My best friend before I married was scared, like very scared of having children at all. Her mom was too.

I blame Hollywood and the medical industry for freaking so many people out about a normal and healthy process, that of growing a baby and bringing it into the world.

Unhealthy mothers may have been the bigger problem that they keyed off of.

More and more, I’m seeing the entirety of the medical community treating patients as being in a class of people who have no rights.

I have one wife who has been dropped by a couple of doctors because she won’t follow their protocol. One size fits all, don’tcha know.

That is great, but most people are not at that point where they can have home births.
I am in the mindset that if anyone in this Biblical Family who can and is lic to help they should.
But then again I believe believes should run to their fellow brothers and sister to help them.
Also I believe you are a female but your photo makes me think your a man.

If a woman is keeping fit and healthy they can have kids loner, but if they are overweight and their bodies are weak sick and about to die having babies might not be wise.

That’s pretty much my point.
I have a good friend that is a a midwife and has an awesome success rate, but she absolutely refuses to deal with unhealthy women. If they cannot respect themselves enough to get healthy prior to their getting pregnant, they cannot expect respect from her.

Babies take so much out of women that is why so many have issues and it goes much deeper than just that.
Lets say you have 2 women one is having a baby in good health and the other is in bad health, each of them passes along their genes at that time so if you are healthier so will that baby as well. But if they are unhealthy they can't provide what is needed to have healthy babies.

Women seem to have a hard time figuring out time is not on their side. If they didn't, they'd all be clamoring to get hitched by 21.

It seems most won't even consider it until 30 is practically upon them.
Amen!

Again, I think you are mistaken through getting information from the wrong sources. Most women are entirely capable of home birthing, and would have much easier labours if they did, but they are misled by the entire medical establishment and scared off the idea because it is profitable for the medical establishment to get them into a hospital.

That's not how genetics works. They have the same genes regardless of whether they are healthy or unhealthy at the time of birth, that won't affect the baby's genes. However, it may affect the baby's growth in the womb and while breastfeeding, and will certainly affect their ability to function as a mother.

Fitness is important - but any average woman is fit enough to birth a child. It's just the land-whales that really need to be in a hospital. Of course, if living in a place where being a land-whale is "average", readjust that statement as necessary...

when it goes south.
When? Are you implying that every woman will have a catastrophic delivery? That seems like a bold claim. Do you have some proof?

And yet God gave women fertility in to their 40s. Are you saying they should be on birth control after their 30s? Maybe they should be sterilized? What are you saying?

Welcome to America the land of the unfit people who all need pills to not die.
Maggie was pointing you can some other are not from America and you live in New Zealand so your women might bet in better health.
Our FDA allows extremely bad stuff in our foods that kill people and so we live very unhealthy lives here.

I and some Americans pay top dollar for Organic and Kosher Foods and so way out of the way to eat right, but most Americans eat garbage.

Just looked it up and it seems you live an island kind of life, we have two complete different points of views.

Here is why you this so much different then us Americans.

As of 2019, New Zealand’s rising population was made up of over 2.53 million females, overtaking the male population. Despite the increasing population, the fertility rate among women has steadily decreased over the past few years. Alongside a decreasing fertility rate, women are giving birth later in life. Women in New Zealand are also living longer than male New Zealanders, with a higher average life expectancy. The overall quality of life for women in New Zealand throughout recent years appears to be of a high standard, with women having displayed a general feeling of trust in public institutions. Along with this trust, they have exhibited high levels of job satisfaction.

Added to show that age and health changes the health of that child.

Could our future children inherit our past mistakes?

Epigenetics suggests that babies don’t only inherit our DNA. They also inherit some subtle changes that have been made to that DNA during our parents’ lives. We usually think that any little changes to our molecules get cleaned up or removed when our eggs and sperm are formed, and that all our babies get are clean copies of our genetic material. Recent studies suggest that may not be completely true. If smoking in the early teen years causes a man’s child to have an increased risk of asthma, it could be because smoking causes that man’s DNA to be chemically changed just a bit, and that those changes get passed on to his children. That is epigenetics.

I am saying stuff happens and have something close by just in case is my advice.

@AbrahamSolomon, people here are very similar to in the USA and live a similar average lifestyle. We aren't some mythical island paradise, we're another boring Western country eating Western junkfood and swallowing pills. Yes, there are some differences, but not ones that affect my comments about birth.

The biggest difference is around healthcare funding. We have a socialist healthcare system, while the USA has an insurance-based one. From your comments on expense, am I right in thinking that your insurance covers birth in a hospital, but does not cover hiring a midwife? Here both are covered. That is the biggest difference - just a financial one.

The other big difference is that US hospitals have much higher rates of birth complications than those in most other countries. Because of that, the US has one of the highest C-section rates in the Western world. Somehow the US medical profession is disastrous when it comes to births. Whatever the OBGYNs may say, statistically their hospitals are some of the worst in the world to birth in, causing problems and then having to solve them by cutting women open.

But that means there is a lot of money in it for the hospitals - because all those C-sections are covered by insurance. They probably get paid a lot more from the insurance company if they send the woman through to theatre than if they have a normal birth.

Nothing is what it seems on the surface.

Agree 100%
My sister in law who was 21 and had her first child, she was well overweight but she is just built with a bigger bottom.
They wanted to cut her open and she and my brother said no way and dropped $5000 for a home birth service and they said it was worth it.
I was too worried and we went with the Hospital and they almost killed my son by trying to force his mother to give birth.

Well it looks awesome maybe one day I might visit.

Our first child was born in hospital, and it was a very stressful experience that avoided a c-section by a hairs-breadth.

Our next six were all born at home. All were very in similar physical positions to the one our first was in, but resulted in completely normal births, as it turned out that the hospital had actually turned a slightly-abnormal-but-ok birth position into a near-disaster largely through getting Sarah to lie on her back instead of walking around (among other incompetent decisions).

Get a good midwife who knows how to support how a woman's body is naturally designed to function and all will go well. If you're worried, plan the birth within an hours drive of a hospital and you've got that as a backup in an emergency.

I think @AbrahamSolomon that you are repeating views that you have received from somewhere, and haven't fully thought through. The statement that "women should be done with birthing in their early 30's", when you think it through, practically means something like "women should be on hormonal birth control or get sterilised from the age of 35". Which is unnatural and biologically flawed.

I think you have been overly scared of this subject by somebody, and the more you mature and learn the more you will relax and have less firm opinions on it.

Lets say I meet a young woman at lets say 18 or 20 something like that and can get her onboard to living healthy and begging active.
She would most likely have no problem having children for years and maybe in her 40's, but as an example Maggie and myself will be getting back into a gym soon being that I believe Covid-19 is over with and I will be working out 4 hour a day 6 days a week and she will be also getting a good workout 6 days a week and who knows maybe she will be really to start having children.
