Perfect Perfection

Sharon, does your husband have a BF account?

no, he does not. He wrote the 2nd post.

I would like to encourage him to get an account and engage in the forum. As the family head he may have much to both contribute and learn here. It would be good to get to know him.

That's basically how we work too. My wife reads far more than I do online (Facebook, news websites etc) and points me towards issues I should engage on. As she knows me so well this works great, and saves me wasting time on forums. I read everything here though.

It also means we talk together about the tough issues, and learn from Scripture together. She has a great memory for Biblical passages that may relate to an issue that I hadn't thought of, while I'm better at pulling together the topics and seeing the essential truth God is teaching through it all, so the joint study is more effective and enjoyable than if I studied alone. Also, while I retain a position of leadership my wife is even more able to follow readily, as she understands why I have come to the conclusions I have made.

The point of this verse is that you can't have one without the other, but it is faith that is the critical one.

I speak the same things my husband speaks.

James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

James 2: 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

James 2:21 clearly states that Abraham our father was justified by works when he offered Issac to the alter.

James chapter 2 clearly states that having just faith cannot save you.

Hey ChrisM, I am hoping this is my last post about this.

The scriptures show when they may emphasize on a certain topic at a time, I know you may have seen this. My husband presents scriptures to me from all the axpects not just one, like yall are so much just on the faith. We believe the bible talks about both faith and doing good which in James is works. We just believe that we are to walk and live in Spirit, which is not under the law.(Romans chap. 8) Righteouness is not done by the works of the law. But through God and the Holy spirit/the helper. We are to still keep the Commandments as well but come to a perfect state through Jesus Christ. That's why He died.
Romans 2:21 " I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteouness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."

Me and my husbannd have discussed this saved issue in the past, and many people just see it how they want, we have rediscussed it and alot of what we have discussed is right here in this forum.

Galatians 2:16 "nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified."

In Galatians chapter 2:16 it is talking about how we are not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Christ.

We no longer live according to the law, which was works. But we live in believing Christ Jesus, and having faith in Him.

Gal. 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith?

So to sum this all up, yall believe that works cant get you to heaven. My husband and I believe that its the work that God does in you to help you be perfect, and cleansed from all sin.
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh. God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh
Concerning the law, the law was the commandments.
And salvation is a gift, yea its a gift.... If someone gives you a gift your not just gonna let sit there, no your gonna do something with it. Scripture states over and over that we got to walk this out being Holy and continuing in righteouness. God knows your heart and if your really His, and if He has a hold on your heart, because your fruits will show, your effort of letting Him empower you, you surrending to Him, you dying daily, you seeking Him, praying, and you letting Him do the work in you, not you doing it yourself.

That's it folks, people are gonna believe what they want, this I believe is the truth, and this we stand on. We seeked God for truth and He gave it. I hope yall do the same, I will keep you in my prayers, be blessed.

To all women who follow their husband, stick with what your husband believes. Follow him just as you would Jesus. The scriptures says to be in one mind. I can not let any man or women just put thier beliefs on me and expect that I agree. A house divided against itself will not stand. I even watch what I read on here. I do not read nothing except what my husband has presented and taught me in the bible. I do not believe a women is suppose to teach or have authority over a man but to learn in silence. What I am doing here is just purely not letting anyone give me just anything. NOT recieving another doctrine. I love yall. peace. Also me being very prayerful for my husband allows God to work in our household. If i pray, I'm trusting that God wil lead us into truth.

I have went over these scriptures with my husband, in Romans, and I see where people misinterpret this. You cant have one without the other. In the bible these are people breaking down, this then that , and we need it all, not just picking one.If you continue reading in Romans its giving you more, read on to chapter 6 of Romans and so on. So in James its talking about faith and works, and in Romans its talking about faith, so there is no contradiction, you can't have one without the other. I pointed out James, you pointed out Romans, now in Romans it explains not having works, which is of the law, in James it discusses having faith and works of God manifesting Himself in you, to carry out the commandments. In other words doing what is required. My husband mentioned that salvation is a free gift, but a gift that has to be applied, it is a gift that has instructions and directions. In the bible there are many scriptures explaining what to do and what not to do. Be holy for I am Holy, Be perfect for your Father in Heaven is perfect. We have to do these things through God who can help strenthen and perfect us, if we are willing.

Sharon, it might surprise you but I actually agree in principle with your last three posts. We do need to see a balanced picture of both faith and works, and you have presented this quite well here. Earlier you appeared to be pushing for works while ignoring faith, which is why we pushed faith to show that other perspective. The reality is that we need to understand the role of both.

I'm confused how a requirement for "works" can be construed as a requirement for perfection in this life.

Yes, we "aim for perfection", but I agree with John. 1 John 1:8

That's good Samuel. I will keep everyone in prayer. And the Holy Spirit broke this down, not me. May God be with yall. Peace

Yes, we "aim for perfection", but I agree with John. 1 John 1:8

It's doing God's will, being cleansed from sin, God is with us, cleansing us from glory to glory, he corrects, and helps us, if we seek Him and love Him with all our heart and being we will keep His word, and do ALL that He wants from us. Nothing is impossible through God. Do we pray, like all the time, seeking Him first, asking Him to empower us when we feel tempted? Man I cant do this myself, so let's depend on Him for everything, and He will perfect us.

1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we decieve ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Now verse 9 says this: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1Peter 5:10 read this in your own bible: But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

The rich man was keeping the commandments from youth but Jesus said you still lack one thing, if you want to be perfect, sell your stuff to the poor, and the rich man was not willing. Matthew 19:16-22 Christ goes on and says with men it is impossible but with God all things are possible.
My husband tells me all the time how he desires to be pleasing in God's eyesight because He loves Him, and I tell you now my husband does love God, and I see Him walking this walk out , being pleasing in the Father's eyes, so I see through my husband that God can change and mold and establish us. If my husband see's sin or any unrighteous thing within Himself He goes to the Father and prays fervently against it, and moves on. My husband does not like being unpleasing to the Father, he's miserable and fights to be Holy as God. God says to hate sin. I see alot of people looking at the most pleasing scriptures because they in their heart dont feel conviction, or just wanna feel justified for their sin. The heart is decietful who can know it. Alot of these pastors sugar coat the word and teach thhngs that are pleasing instead of coming full force to rebuke and rebuild, tearing that old you down. My husband wants to be corrected and rebuked by God so that he can grow, my husband is never content in sin. He hates the ways of the wicked, note that i said hate the ways. I do too, and it grieves the Holy spirit when you see or feel wickedness.
Jude vs 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Note: who turn the grace of our God into lewdness
lewdness is easy going behavoir without self restraint. There are people who are abusing God's grace and mercy, turning it into lewdness. Back in the days of the apostles and also,to this day abuse God's grace and mercy. He said come to the throne of grace IN THE TIME OF NEED.
