Hi everyone,
I’m a 30yo female from Europe. I’ve been interested in polygamy ever since I was a teenager. How did you become interested in it? What were you able to find in the Bible (or LDS doctrine) that made it clear to you that this is what God wants for your life? How has it been to live plural marriage?
Hope to hear from y’all! Thanks.
Welcome to the party.
To answer your questions...
Living polygamy is great. I practiced polygamy for about seven and a half years. The relationship did end during the most unpleasant bit of covid...not saying it contributed but the world was quite tense so who knows...it did not end because of polygamy related reasons. When it was good, it was great.
The bit that I say regularly about living polygamy that surprises a lot on the outside is that it is not nearly as different or strange as everyone expects. It is still just normal marriage and there being more than one wife simply makes life better.
Here is where you will be wondering how it makes life better. To begin with, there is a wider support base for all the adults. More people who love you, who are there to help and support. There are more patents for child care. There are vastly more options for women when it comes to the modern tug of war women experience with respect to wanting to be a career woman vs the inate desire to make a home and have children. Two or three moms in the home...especially if one or more who are employed are in the position to work from home...and the weight of child care is Significantly lighter. I could go on at length about the advantages
How did we decide it was for us?
We took a very different path to arrive here in that the idea that polygamy having been false propagandized as not allowed by the Bible never occurred to me and to be frank it would not have particularly mattered if it had. I am the oddball here in that I am not any denomination or loose variation of Christian. They are my preferred group but I am not easily labeled in that while I don't have a religion myself, I understand how critical they are to group cohesion and how important adherence to a common faith is to the mental/emotional health of individuals and the group.
So, my future wife and I had both read a lot of heinlein and been exposed to the idea of non monogamy in a few weird variations that in real life would absolutely repell us but it did get the noggin joggin.
We discussed the idea of polygamy early on and decided that one husband and multiple wives just made sense. When it happened it happened.
Was great and can not recommend it enough.
As you are in Europe, I think you are going to be a very rare bird in that there will be fewer men thinking along these lines...save for Muslims obviously and personally I eould not give house room to the way they practice polygamy. So your mind is apt to turn to the States. Lots of potential candidates over here. Unfortunately, the legal process is annoyingly difficult and really should be a factor in the equation.
If for example you were good with being a housewife and mom as well as meeting a family to marry that has the resources for you to stay at home or you brought enough resources to the party to keep you home then it is still doable. Otherwise...difficult.
I have been there and done that to an extent, so I am not just blowing hot air unfortunately.
