Great/inspirational quotes

“The complex mechanism of the world enveloping us is admirably adapted to the tastes of fallen man. The tinsel and glamour of the world’s glory kindle in the eye the light of envious desire, fill the lustful heart with dull discontent or base dishonesty, and stir to action dormant proclivities. The first response of the heart to the gaudy lustre of the world’s glory weaves about the soul a web which chills and deadens upward aspirations. This web is strengthened by every successive response, and, in our wandering from God, we became hopelessly entangled in the meshes of the world’s ambitions and drawn into the vortex of its pleasures.”

Does trusting God to do what you think is best really sound like trusting God? – Wayne Jacobsen

When people talk of worshiping in some building on earth, and think of a ritualistic service as worship, and talk of worshiping God in music, it simply shows that they do not understand. In every moment of a believer’s life, he is sitting in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. The place of our abiding is in the immediate presence of God with nothing between.

Harry Ironside (1876-1951)
Charge That To My Account (1931)

"In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.

"In practice there is."

"It’s a lot easier to get out of the system than to get the system out of you.”

Wayne Jacobsen

“Alas, today the pulpits are occupied with the praise of man; man’s wonderful discoveries and inventions are dwelt upon. His wisdom and cleverness are extolled. Man is practically deified, while God is deposed, or bowed out of His Own creation. It is the gospel of humanity that is preached, rather than the Gospel of God.”

E.W. Bullinger, The Book of Job, 1910

Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools

King Crimson, "Epitaph"

Dear Lord, I refuse henceforth to compete with any of Your servants … I will not compare myself with any, nor try to build up my “self-esteem” by noting where I may excel one or another in Your holy work. I herewith make a blanket disavowal of all intrinsic worth … I pray for others and do rejoice in their prosperity as if it were my own. Indeed it is my own if it is Your own, for what is Yours is mine, and while one plants and another waters it is You alone that gives the increase.

A.W. Tozer (1897-1963)

When you focus on problems, you get more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you have more opportunities.

Zig Ziglar

“This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.”

“But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.”

- Mike Vanderboegh

"God’s answers are wiser than our prayers.”

Croft M. Pentz (1931-2008)

If men will cease taking themselves so seriously and accept God’s statement that “we can do nothing against the truth but only for the truth” they will not be so fearful of the task of plunging into the study of the Word of God. The Bible may be deep, but if need be, I prefer to drown in it, rather than to be battered to death by the waves of human ignorance, human error, superstition, and opinion. Those who meditate upon the Word of God day and night are called “blessed.” That word means “happy.” And I claim to be one of those happy men.

True. Lately it seems the leftists are the ones who are the least tolerant of misgivings especially among their own cohort.

That's always been the case. I say this as a recovering leftist. The demands for freedom without responsibility are always strong -- but only for oneself; everyone else needs to be regulated.
