Is Porn Use good for Christians?

Berean Patriot has a really good study that goes deep into this subject. Follow the link and then skip down to the Female/Female heading. I actually recommend the whole post, but for our discussion here, it is a solid argument against anal even within marriage.

That was a very good article discussing the details of language lost in translation that clarify what Paul was saying.
Thank you!

Dang you!!! (Joking sarcasm intended). I read the attached article (good article 👍), and then went to reading other articles on the Berean Patriot website.

I read his article on Bible translations (good article). Here's my problem. I just lost confidence in the ESV translation. 😡😡😡

The ESV has been my preferred translation for the last 15+ years. I grew up using the NIV, but dropped it back in the early 2000s for the more literal ESV, and because of the gender inclusion issues of the TNIV.

The ESV is the preferred translation of Calvinisty Baptists like myself (being promoted by Saints Grudem and Piper ☺️).

I knew the NASB was better, and thought the NKJV was probably also better. Now I know that for certain.

I have been using the ESV and NASB, plus occasional KJV, NIV, NKJV, NLT, etc.

Now it will be NKJV and NASB for serious study, and everything else only for supplementation.

It makes sense that the ESV and it's promoters (like Piper and Grudem) is somewhat compromised with modern culture on the issue of gender inclusive language. The "Complementarian" view of sex roles is also a compromise between the Biblical view (Patriarchy) and the secular view (Egalitarianism).

Having been raised egalitarian, I appreciate people like Piper and Grudem pushing me in the right direction back in the early 2000s.. I still have to criticize them where they fall short.

I haven't read the article yet, but the ESV has moved lower and lower on my list as time goes by. I have large issues with the critical text and mgnt in general but that's for another thread lol

One addition to what he said:

There are three possible sexual combinations when you have two genders:
  • Male/Female
  • Male/Male/
  • Female/Female
There's also Male/Female/Female

Id say that since the wages of the whore are an abomination, we can conjecture that it is not approved lol
Deu 23:18 KJV Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

All this passage is saying is one is not to use the money that they made off of their lifestyle for any vow.

And just so you know I am not trying to justify that particular lifestyle, me personally I have not seen in the scriptures where Yahweh says it is a sin to be a whore.

If the wages of a whore being unsuitable to take to the temple means it is sinful to be a whore, then it equally sinful to own a dog.

Since this passage is talking about sexual things, I believe the dog referred to In this passage falls under the definition of male prostitute. BDB 1D

I get what you're saying about dogs though.

The seven women that take hold of one man would be foolish to not choose a man who has already proven himself with two or three wives.

Ted Bundy also claimed that every single man he was on death row with had a fascination with violent porn, in my opinion it wasn't the porn that made them do it, their brains were already geared towards violence and an addiction to violent porn only furthered those interest. It's interesting that he mentions what he saw on cable TV in his 40s as something he would have stayed up all night watching in his childhood because of the violence and sex in it, this shows how progressively worse things have gotten.

Also Ted didn't use it as an "excuse" he literally stated that it played a role in who is he today, I wouldn't consider that blaming porn specifically but more as a warning against using it excessively.

I think a few are missing my IQ and maturity reference, it was in reference to being entertained by such over the top, fake acting just for the sake of nudity. I feel the same thing about reality TV and the music teenagers listen to. I feel as though my brain is slowly dying when watching or listening to certain things. I was saying that personally i'd be more worried about why someone is so easily entertained by such garbage than if it was porn or not.

I have not consumed much about Bundy but what I have been forced to learn about him just by being a part of the culture has failed to impress me. The notion of serial killers falling into a mold of 30'ish white male with a high IQ and a bit of an autistic vibe is mostly popular entertainment fiction in my opinion. Even if Bundy legitimately had a couple standards of deviations above the mean, that doest mean a lot. You could easily score well on a test in say mathematical and spacial categories but be an absolute spastic unable to read people or learn to function within social norms because of very poor development in other areas.
Like I said, I am not knowledgeable about the guy but I always got the vibe he was impulsive, not that bright and a sloppy idiot full of ironic hubris. Given his history I am not surprised to learn that he was into violent porn.

The fact that whoring is lumped together with homosexual male prostitution in this passage seems to indicate God's disapproval.
