Making Progress on the church acceptance front

Just out of curiosity, is homosexuality more acceptable in the orchestra than a “discusser of polygyny “?

I’d lay money that divorced persons are.
Not within our church, but it is odd that you hardly ever hear about homosexuality in the pulpit, but the pastor has no trouble mischaracterizing polygamy.

Well I figured out which one of the orchestra members ratted me out, and I have been conversing with him. It happens to be the same one that I created another thread about. Potential New Convert.

At some point you might have to change the title of your thread.
Or put a question mark at the end.
Or redefine progress.....
;)

Not wanting to go off topic but homosexuality is very common and open here, and most religious people say nothing against it. Seeing two men, one effeminate, holding hands in public isn't uncommon and ladyboys are ubiquitous. Yet even talking about polygamy in public can be dangerous and definitely not to be discussed "at church."

I wonder how a church would handle it if their membership was inundated with fliers, posters, and billboards promoting polygamy. Nor your church of course, they'd know you did it.

Though maybe after they've kicked you out...

Sounds like you over estimated him.
Actually, I have been emailing him, and interestingly enough, he wholeheartedly agrees that polygamy is not wrong, although he only wants to find one wife, but you know what they say about loose lips.

I have often wondered the same. Maybe next time we have a retreat in Austin....I took my 3x5 card I wrote on during one of our sessions at the retreat, and left it inside a hymnal at the local Baptist church, on my way home. It said things like what my goals are polygamy wise. Someone is gonna find that, if they haven't already, and be somewhat puzzled.

I am thinking that next time we have a retreat, wherever that happens to be, we target a church or two, to pass out fliers to.

On the bright side, you've now got a lot more free time to talk about polygamy... o_O
Seeing as I have agreed not to do so, I think the best strategy, is to be seen and not heard. My friend who ratted me out, knows why I am not there, and if anyone asks him why I am not playing, he is free to let them know what happened.

Perhaps it's only acceptable in orchestras and choirs when the participants are wearing robes under which no one can tell what they're really doing with their hands . . .

I would like one too, but I won't wear it at my church until I am on the way out.
When you're free of that church, Daniel, you just let me know, and I'll get the ordering info from Rock and have one specially made for you!

I think you and I have some overoptimism in common, Daniel. Sorry to hear you've been knocked down so much lately.

Ironically, the church we were dismissed from accepted a lesbian couple just days/weeks after we left. As far as I know they’re still there. One would think it would hurt, for some reason it cracked me up. I guess you get to a point- it makes more sense to laugh your face off then cry your eyes out about a club you have the whole congregation vote you in, but one man can dismiss you. I’m honestly glad we’re no longer part of that rat race... now adays, I get to flirt with my preacher:D @Church on the Couch. It’s so funny, our kids get the best responses when they answer the question ‘where do you go to church?’ And then the what denomination are you- ‘my dad’s and God’s’... I smile and nod.
