If we read Romans in large chunks instead of chapters then we see that Paul's teachings on the law are not as we've been told. Its in even more misleading to read it a verse at a time. Any study of Paul, and thus of the New Testament, needs to start in 2 Peter where we're told that Paul's teachings are difficult to understand and have led some who failed to understand to destruction. I think it is a mistake to think there are two separate systems or that modern followers of Christ are freed from the Law. That being said, I do believe that the laws given by Moses immediately before entering the Promised Land were/are specifically for those Israelite living in Israel.
