What is a "Spirit of Truth"?

and in the context of several miraculous like gifts. I do not have this gift but have known people with it. The how of that discernment, for those I've met it is a feeling or a knowledge; though I've seen testimony of one who could literally see them. It is also a historical understanding across most major streams of Christianity.
 
Sometimes animals sense demonic spirits prior to our realization of their presence.
More than a few times Karin’s dog has alerted her to what she hadn’t noticed. She saw the disturbance at that point and commanded it to leave. And the dog recognized that it was gone.
A friend of ours uses horses in providing therapy for people, what they can sense is astounding.

I only post this to those with an ear to hear it.

From personal experience, in regards to discerning of spirits, it's definitely a thing.

One time I was on my computer and I saw a picture of a man's face. I had no idea who this man was at all, no frame of reference. I had almost an allergic reaction to him. Samuel was sitting next to me, I screamed "Oh hell no!" and slammed the lid of my computer shut. I can't really explain what I felt, but just that this guy was seriously evil, like very frighteningly so. I could feel it deep down in my spirit, but I also had a physical reaction and nearly threw up. I had to get Samuel to open the computer and slowly go through to work out who on earth this guy was.
I can't remember his name, and I don't want to google him again to find out... But he was the doctor in Nazi Germany who did nasty experiments on the Jews in concentration camps.
It was just a picture, I have no idea why I had that reaction, but there was something spiritual in it because otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all.

Another time I was praying for a friend, and while doing so YHWH gave me the names of several spirits to pray against. I didn't even know they were a problem in her life at all. I mean, we can argue all day about whether all that is biblical or not, but that's the word I was given, and that's what I did. Things have gotten better for her since I did that, and specifically in the area that one spirit was targeting.

My thoughts on this are sort of leading on to a bigger issue, but I'm going to start another thread rather than derail this one.
 
It kind of seems like the only dogma in christianity today that cannot be questioned, isn’t scripture, but rather, other people’s personal experiences

How do you question someone else's personal experience? It's just theirs and it means something to only them. I think the only thing we can question is the fruit.

Generally they think it means something for everyone else and that’s what is not allowed to be questioned
 
Just so tired of the endless disputations.
Maybe if everyone just posted what they believe and why, everyone could wander through the smorgasbord and choose what makes the most sense to them. Might make a pleasant change from the negativity of attempting to destroy each other’s positions.

I don't think we took it that way. It was your experience and it is valued because you experienced it. Thank you for sharing. Hearing God 'speak' to other people is wonderful thing and it is an encouragement.

Au contraire.... the serpent in the garden. The eagle in middle heaven ( Revelation)... I tend to think that just as we were limited in our abilities at the fall that the animals were as well..... 'all creation groans in eager anticipation for the revealing of the sons of God....'

Personally, I love the Chronicles of Narnia and think Lewis may not have been too far afield....

Those are totally not the same thing
 
I like the chronicles of narnia too, and he might have some elements of true possibilities of what some things look like in the spirit realm, but that aint christian doctrine. That’s speculation.
 
My whole thing isn’t that spiritual stuff doesn’t exist, that there is no such thing as a spiritual war going on, or that christians don’t ever see things in the spiritual realm. What i am saying is that these things are anecdotal at best, and they are not things that we as Christians build doctrines around. Doctrine is teaching. These things don’t become teachings of the church. Our final authority on faith and practice is the written Word of God.

Rare in scripture, but then scripture doesn't often go into great detail on the inner workings of the spiritual world. We really don't know how common it is. The important thing here, and why I brought it up, is that it tells us what is true, what is feasible. The dog that senses spirits is a lot less crazy than the talking donkey that sees them.
