Convoy 2022 NZ

It will be probably be less bad than last winter because "Science" is proving to be undefesible crap.

How is your media reporting current lockdown in China? This could be clue for you.

In Croatia before current China's lockdown any measures abroad were examples were to be followed. That's way media was always pushing new measures. What is media pushing in NZ?

I'm really not paying a lot of attention to what the media is saying about anything. I was getting too caught up in it and it wasn't healthy.

Probably. Knowing our govt, that's the road they would like to go down.

Incidentally, our PM is currently overseas, so heaps of people are asking if we can shut the boarders again to keep her out lol. Let the restrictions work in our favour.
That ole Keith Whitley tune that got repurposed still makes me laugh. It's true for ALL dem blasted pretenders in public office though. "We backed the wrong horse....she's good for nothing at all" but when will people learn and quit backing horses.. .and choose the one that RIDES on the white horse, .....pick Yeshua as king?

This video talks about the big pretenders....but every last one of them is suspect...and aught to be presumed guilty. Even down to the county workers with tax money to spend "for you."

That is based on what happened in Australia.
Yes, Monday was ANZAC day for us, which is similar to your memorial day or veterans day I think. There are services held around the place and I've found over the years they can be hit or miss depending on who is speaking.
This year we joined up with some extended family and went up to our local monument that lists those that died from our area in the world wars. We held a service there, placed some poppies, prayed, then went home. It felt much more honouring and real than some services I've been to with 100 people there.

Memorial Day is for those who died or were severely wounded in uniform.

Veterans Day is for those who served in the military at all.

Armed Forces Day is for those currently serving.

Is this true:

If true it would certainly help. Lockdown would be illegal because procedure wasn't followed.

Not exactly. Yes, it was found that the lockdown was illegal when it was first implemented, but then the govt passed a law that made it legal, so it made it irrelevant. That was back in 2020 though. I don't know what he's talking about if he's talking about something recent.

I think this might be what he's talking about, because this is recent, but it's not at all what he said. And the opposition is not calling for her resignation over this.

Oooh, I totally forgot to do this today! Thanks, @MemeFan .

So, yes nearly everything has been scrapped. We're down to just a couple of restrictions, with the majority of things being recommendations and not mandates.

In two weeks the mandates for healthcare workers will go, but the choice of having their workers vaccinated will be up to individual employers, so that might not mean much. Also, many of the healthcare workers that were mandated out of their job have found other jobs that they don't want to leave so won't go back anyway. They're also really angry at how they have been treated.

Anyone coming into the country no longer has to do any tests at all. This is because, and I quote what Jacinda said twice in her last press conference * "Those coming into NZ are vaccinated and have had covid, so there is very little risk." If you just think about that a bit...

Anyone who tests positive for covid has to isolate for 7 days, but no one in their household does unless they also test positive.

No more masks except for healthcare facilities.

No gathering limits apparently, although that was basically scrapped ages ago because no one was following it at all.

The law has not been done away with, that's important to note. It is still in place. So should another variant come in (apparently unlikely because see * above) or for whatever other reason they think of, they can still put the same laws into effect.

Lots of people are celebrating, and I get it, but it's not quite over.

Another interesting development is that the media is slowly turning against the govt. Very slowly, little tidbits. It's interesting.
Here's a video which is a good example. This is actually the strongest opinion I've seen from anyone in the media. This guy was all for everything the govt was doing, and harping on at people to get vaccinated, ignoring or laughing at those talking against the vaccinations and the mandates etc.
And here's an example of an article on our main 'love Jacinda' news website:
“Today marks a milestone in our response. Finally, rather than feeling that Covid dictates what happens to us, our lives, and our futures, we take back control,” Ardern said on Monday.
This is political sleight of hand. Yes, Covid has rendered great uncertainty, but the uncertainty has been generated by the Government’s response to it, here and abroad. The changing rules, the ever-present threats of lockdowns or border closures, the ever-increasing (but now shrinking) apparatus of state to deal with it all.

There were good reasons for this, sensible science behind it and certainly the public was on board for a lot of it, especially the elimination strategy while it lasted. But suggesting that Covid was dictating what happened is untrue. Covid determined who got sick and how sick they got. The Ardern Government determined all the rules that governed our response. Ditto for governments overseas.

Thanks for the updates and insights. Perhaps Labour's drop in popularity in the polls is also influencing the covid politics in NZ(?)

Yes, I'm wondering that. They're polling very low right now. Or, maybe the payout she gave them has run out.

Maybe the media are blackmailing her for another payout. "As you see we have all this bad stuff we could say about you, and there is another election next year, are you going to pay us to keep hiding your dirty laundry or shall we let it come out now?".

Time for a bit of an update on this thread. I'll start with the changes that have been made regarding restrictions.

  • From tomorrow, no one will have to scan in anymore. Basically no one is now anyway as there's so many cases that they're no longer contract tracing, but it won't be law now at least.
  • From tomorrow, outside gatherings can be of unlimited size. Which has been happening with all the protests anyway. The only thing this helps is it means that all those summer events can go ahead. Oh wait, it's not summer anymore and they all got cancelled. So much for the 'two shots for summer' they went on about.
  • From tomorrow, you can have up to 200 people inside. I think this is only vaccinated people, I'm really not sure and don't understand this one.
  • From April 4th, vax passes will no longer be required anywhere. However, businesses can still choose to use them if they want to.
  • From April 4th, mandates on certain industries will be lifted. But many will remain. Business owners or anyone else in those industries can still choose to mandate their staff though.
  • On April 4th, Jacinda will be making another statement regarding the traffic light system and if we will change colour.
Here's what hasn't changed.
  • We still legally have to wear masks everywhere.
  • We can still be restricted from any shop or organisation that chooses to restrict us.
  • We still can't go to our library, though they are considering what the govt is saying and trying to figure out what their best course of action is apparently.
  • Children still have to wear masks at school.
  • And unvaccinated people still don't want to support those businesses that chose to discriminate against us. That hasn't changed, and we won't forget.
  • Many areas are still mandated to be vaccinated, such as healthcare workers and border workers.

In Jacinda's great announcement, she also mentioned that the govt were responsible for removing mandates on defence and police. This had nothing to do with the govt, and was because of a court case. A judge ruled it was illegal.

At the moment there is a court case to stop mandates for the education sector. They have been waiting for the ruling from the judge for several weeks now. Jacinda has removed mandates for education, but everyone is waiting for the results from the court case to see where to go from here.

Everything Jacinda said is temporary. It's not something that is permanent. She can change her mind back at any point. There could be another disease or a another version of Covid. Or just because she feels like it. The law has not been removed.

Also, one of the reasons she's removed the vax pass is that she's now opened the borders up. Over the next few months the borders will open to different people until eventually they're open to everyone. Our vax pass system does not allow for anyone vaccinated overseas. Can you imagine a bunch of tourists coming here but not being able to find anywhere to stay or visit and not being able to get a pass even though they're fully vaccinated?

Also, late last Friday night, the rules got quietly changed on the govt website. Any NZ citizen who is unvaccinated can skip quarantine. They didn't announce that to the media, just randomly let a bunch of people out of MIQ. The media did find out about it and did a large announcement. That's about the only investigating they've actually done in 2 years.
Like Cuba, islands are quite dangerous when tyranny comes. There is almost no escape once it's advanced enough. By the time people wake up and try to escape, it's much harder. They aren't 90 miles from Florida either.

The old saying is that you can vote your way into socialism but you have to fight your way out.
